One tried and true way to stay in business is to offer a solution to a problem. It may be a problem your consumer is aware of, or one they don’t even know they have.
In Cuba, I saw so many innovative ideas used to meet very real needs in the areas of transportation and food. Bicycle owners welded folding chairs to the sides of their bicycles so they could transport their family members and neighbors around town.
Another neighbor acquired an air compressor and set up an air station in their front yard to fill flat bicycle tires with air. These two businesses meet the needs of the Cuban people and the owners were always busy with customers.
